Mondragon University and MATHWORKS collaboration overArduino Engineering Kit Development project

This Gitbook will consist of an explanation of the collaboration done between Mondragon Unibertsitatea and MATHWORKS, where the Arduino Engineering Kit, onwards AEK, was used in order to makes changes in the lectures imparted in the aforemencioned university.

The AEK consist in different components which can be used to create three different mock-ups: a Self-Balancing Motorcycle, a Webcam Controlled Rover and a Drawing Robot. Each of those helps providing further comprehension of different engineering topics, which allow the users of the kit develop various filed of understanding.

The kit has been developed between Arduino and MATHWORKS. Therefore, the three projects utilize and Arduino as their starting point and are programmed to act according to their functions using MATLAB and Simulink.

Each of the projects has been developed following the instructions from the following website: https://engineeringkit.arduino.cc/, even though the knowledge obtained from that website has not been enough to make the projects work, so it has been necessary to modify the programs suggested in order to fullfil the projects necessities and verify the correct functioning of the mock-ups.

The main reason in the agreement reached between MATHWORKS and Mondragon University is using the possible obtainable learnings in different relevant engineering fields and integrating them to different lectures imparted all across the University. It is primarily oriented towards a change in the Industrial Programming lecture, even though it is possible to integrate it in more lessons. In order to make it usable, each of the competences is being studied, and all its valuable knowledge is being gathered in different slides.

On the following sections, each of the mock-ups will be explained, following the same structure in each three of them: first, a brief introduction will be done, followed by the competences attributed to each of them. Afterwards, an extensive explanation will be done. Finally, an evaluation will be done according to the usefulness of each of the mock-ups.
